People talk about wanting to be beautiful all the time. Not everyone thinks that there are some times that being plain is better than being attractive. Beauty has some drawbacks to it that people must consider too. Attractive people are more influential, yes, but they are sometimes seen as less credible. In fact, some advertisements hire plain looking folks to sell products that they want the public to consider as trustworthy. Unattractive people applying for a job that deals with facts are chosen over those who are attractive. This bias may be a result of people thinking that people who have the beauty has got less of the brains, but of course this isn’t true at all times.
Another time when it’s better to be un-beautiful is when you don’t want to be noticed. Pretty people often make heads turn when walking in the street. Sometimes they even get bothered because people can’t help but fawn over them. They get plenty of suitors, they break too many a heart, and they are more distracted by romance than those who aren’t much in demand. Also, people who are constantly noticed for their looks build their self-esteem around their appearance. If something happens and they lose their luster, they also lose hope in themselves.
The best time to be at your most beautiful self is when you know that you also have the brains and the guts to match your face. This is what people call ‘the perfect girl/guy’ and they will fight to date or hire these people. Having a strong personality and a clever mind is tougher than getting oral bands for better teeth. But of course, if you already have a beautiful mind and soul, it will be so easy for you to rise in the attractiveness scale. If not, you can always work on those later.
